ASSESSMENT

REFLECTIVE PRACTICE

Since the beginning of my teacher education there has been a huge emphasis put on reflective practice. During placement I added a reflective section to my lesson plan document that was present and available to me during and after class. Using the lenses of Brookfield (1998) I began to be able to reflect on situations from different viewpoints which helped me strategise and improve the qualities of my teaching practice going forward. At first it was not a natural practice but it has become quite an important part of my teaching strategy and started to influence conversational topics had in my community of practice. Some examples of this strategy on a bigger scale can be seen in my CLA and SEN Differenciation Case Study. By the end of the course I have become quite inspired by reflection and how it has helped me develop my teaching and approach to learning. I want to pass this insight on to my classes and ensure the students also take advantage of reflective practice.
